TOKAS Announces Applications for 2025 Artist and Curator Residency Programs Focused on Innovation and Cultural Exchange

Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS) continues to uphold its commitment to nurturing artistic excellence through its renowned and artist-in-residence programs. Since its establishment in 2006, this initiative has offered a distinctive platform for artists from diverse backgrounds and nationalities to engage in creative pursuits and research in Tokyo and internationally. TOKAS is currently accepting applications for these highly esteemed four residency programs.

  1. International Creator Residency Program (Individual Projects): This program not only offers financial support for creators to develop and present innovative works and ideas in Tokyo but also provides a wealth of resources and a supportive environment to ensure the success of their projects.

  2. International Creator Residency Program (Theme Projects) and Local Creator Residency Program From May to July 2025, Tokyo Arts and Space is looking for two international and two local creators to explore the theme "Technology and the Future of Humanity." The chosen creators will work independently on their projects, examining cultural differences in thoughts, recognitions, actions, and languages. The outcomes of their residency will be showcased at the OPEN STUDIO and CiR Exhibition at TOKAS Hongo the following year.

  3. Curator Residency Program: Aimed at curators, art critics, and cultural researchers from around the world, this program provides opportunities to conduct research in Tokyo and fosters cross-cultural dialogue and exchange.

  4. Research Residency Program: Open to both local and international artists, curators, and researchers, this program offers a chance to work in Tokyo and enrich their practice through new perspectives and experiences.

Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS) invites all interested candidates to review the eligibility and conditions for each program carefully. These residencies are designed to inspire innovation and facilitate meaningful cultural exchanges, reinforcing TOKAS's commitment to supporting the global arts community.

Please visit the Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS) website for detailed information and application guidelines. Don't miss this opportunity to be part of a vibrant artistic journey in Tokyo.
