Hong Kong now is hosting to 1600 papier-mâché pandas as part of the launch of the month-long “1600 Pandas World Tour in Hong Kong: Creativity Meets Conservation” organized by PMQ and curated by AllRightsReserved.
The creation of French artist Paulo Grangeon, the pandas will come in six different shapes and sizes, with four more one-of-a-kind papier-mâché versions for Hong Kong.
From June 9 to June 21, the pandas will be displayed at more than 10 Hong Kong landmarks including Ma Wan, the historic Clock Tower at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza in Tsim Sha Tsui, Victoria Park and Statue Square before gathering at the PMQ on Aberdeen Street in Central as part of a three-week exhibition.
To coincide with the tour a collection of 23 exclusively designed for Hong Kong “1600 Pandas Tour” Facebook stickers were created and will be available for download worldwide from June 10.
“Stickers are illustrations or animations of characters that you can send to friends. They’re a great way to share how you’re feeling and add personality to your chats. As more and more companies focus on mobile and look for ways to engage users in communication through content, stickers are an extension of that content-sharing trend,” said Jayne Leung, Head of Greater China, Facebook.
The 1600 pandas have visited France, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Taiwan, and have been part of nearly 100 exhibitions.
